Hello, I drive a 2016 Kia Soul + with the 2.0 GDI engine. Somewhere around the 50-60k mile mark I had and engine oil loss issue and took it to the dealership and the had replaced a PCV valve under warranty. Drove it for a bit and did an oil change. (5k miles with dealership oil). After 4k on my oil change I got a quick oil light like it had tripped due to low oil. Almost nothing drained out hardly.
Put new oil in again, tested after 1k myself and saw almost a quart loss. I'm having the dealership look at it again but I want to make sure the dealership isn't trying to screw me past the engine warranty and that Kia would fix it if there is any issues.
Less then 200 miles to the end of the oil consumption test, so any questions I should ask? What or where should I start looking about dealing with the warranty? I love the car but hate this engine...
The piston rings are worn out. A dry and wet compression test will tell you the truth. You can have the dealership to fix the issue (I doubt they do for free), but you can try.
OP said it has engine warranty.
Yeah, but it depends if they honor the warranty or they say it is normal.
I appreciate the comments! I have been reading about this particular engine having issues and the oil loss involved. Sounds like either way it's a major issue. Just hope Kia does the right thing or I'll have to sell it.
If they did not, contact a lawyer.
Your car needs a new engine, make sure they don’t cheap out and give you what you deserve.
It’s not oil loss - as if there’s a leak. It’s oil consumption or oil burn - because the engine is so poorly built.
I'm going to make a point that this is the second incident and that I'll want all the details of their test because last time the didn't tell me the details of the test.
you can just demand it from them - all of those “”””tests”””” are ment as an excuse to not give you what they owe you.
Personally I’d just read the warranty and manual and just just treat it exactly like how it says to do it - this will probably cause it to seize and then they will have no other real choice.
