Hey everyone,

I'm currently driving a 2006 jeep commander 4.7L SUV.

I'm wanting to get a new car and was thinking this one. Thoughts?

They're asking $24k for a used 2017 Civic and based on the price of the new model I would say pass on this and go for a brand new 2022. The starting msrp for the 2022 civic sedan lx is $22350 and based on the link of the ad I'm assuming you're in WA state so with destination charge it would be $23350 for a brand new car. If you can wait for the car then without a doubt pass on the car you are looking at.

Thank you so much FJ, I knew that it was sus because I knew that they were brand new for that price.

You're welcome. You might want to consider putting down a deposit and waiting for the car to come if you can wait at a dealership willing to sell at msrp with no fake fees and unnecessary additional items.

For this corolla I went on Toyota website and the msrp with destination fee included is $23940 so I they're already giving an incorrect number (I'll include the Toyota website link at the end of this response). Also, in this market condition a lot of dealerships put msrp on their website to get the customer to come in but then when you go they start talking about markups and fake fees etc. so you would want to make sure they're actually selling it at msrp. Otherwise as far as quality of the car corolla is good just like the civic.

Yeah,

I'm going to be listing the jeep for around 8-10 grand.

I know that seems like a lot but mechanically it's absolutely perfect and reliable. And it has a bunch of additions, like upgraded engine from the dealership, upgraded sound system, pretty beefy tires. So, imma list it on Facebook market place for maybe $9,000.00 and let it ride on there and see what I can put together.

Because I'd like to put 6 grand down on a car and then keep some extra money for myself. But we'll see.

What, exactly is an "upgraded engine from the dealership?"

@doc when new, the base Commander was offered with PowerTech 3.7L V6 or 4.7L V8 engines.

Thanks Joe.

Yeah sorry, I should have said that. I listed it for 9 on Facebook Market place and offered to do an entire inspection over the car to make sure that they'd be happy with it.

I really do love the car, I just know that with a Jeep at 150+ thousand miles it's going to be a ticking time bomb. And at 19 I need reliability.

Just a thought given the current crazy market (if you haven't done it yet), see what Carmax, Vroom, Carvana, or places like that would offer you for your car. If they would give you a good price you wouldn't have to wait for selling it to an individual. Also, if going for a civic and you're living in WA state I'll be more than happy to tell you about where and how I got mine at msrp with no fake fees and unnecessary additional items last year just a couple months after the car became available for sale.

I bought my civic from Honda Auto Center of Bellevue and salesperson was Beau Price. They didn't have the car I wanted on the lot but willing to take deposit for an incoming one. The process took 20 minutes. Negotiated price (msrp), took off additional stuff I didn't want (worth $800), only fake fee was prep fee which he took it off in 30 seconds, proper paperwork signed by me and sales manager, put deposit and done. One thing which showed they are doing business right and really want to sell a car properly was without me even asking he printed even the initial quote on official dealership paper. When filling out the final deposit contract I asked him to put "new" instead of VIN to prevent possibility of being sold a used car and he said okay without any opposing it.

Car arrived a bit later than they had anticipated (nothing unusual because the salesperson had told me because of chip and supply chain issues Honda is falling back on their initial schedule) but I was informed of all updates, got vin number when available, and picked up the car and got paperwork done in an hour. I had told him I am paying cash and nobody in the finance office even tried to get me into financing it and no pushing to sell me warranties and stuff I didn't want.

So yeah if you want a civic this was my experience and was very positive. But if you want a Toyota unfortunately I don't have any recent experience with a Toyota dealership, but they're definitely good cars. Don't pay over msrp for a Corolla and make sure you don't let them charge you fake fees.

With a price of cars these days I just buy a new one if you want a new one

I'm looking to buy a 2022 Corolla Hybrid from a Wilder Dealership. It has less than 200 miles and they're asking 25,500 for it.

Also, I absolutely love your videos. You remind me of my grandfather (NOT IN A BAD WAY, NOT CALLING YOU OLD.) Very sweet and knowledgable and not full of shit. Rare traits now adays.

@zackbryson
Please post your own question. Don't hijack others. Thanks.

You do realize that this is LITERALLY my question right? It's my thread. But okay.

Sorry. it's been a long day.

Aye' my man. It's all good. Sorry for being a snappy asshole like that. Just stressed out with everything going on right now. Thinking about financing a car, selling my current one, work, family etc. I appreciate you not snapping back and me saying something smartassed back and getting kicked off the website.

have a great night brother. <3
