Hey Scotty I took my jeep grand cherokee Laredo to the dealership to get checked out and this the results they found-This is to inform you that inspection has been performed on vin/1C4RJFAG6HC728256 findings have been posted to the case-INSP FINDINGS-Material failure of water pump with subdamage to the right head gasket. The head and block straight edged, both are straight, no warpage. mvp DENIES A LONG BLOCK- Please provide a filled out pre authorization worksheet for the failed RIGHT SIDE GASKET AND WATER PUMP.. Trying to find out what does this means.
Trying to find out what does this means.
It means the water pump self-destructed and caused collateral damage to the engine. That damage was deemed to have not been severe enough to warrant replacing the engine. Therefore the water pump and head gasket alone will be replaced. Still many $$$$ in repairs unless there's some kind of warranty coverage involved. (That seems to be the implication here but it was not clearly stated.)
The dealership said my extended warranty is still active. The dealership is trying to see if head office will cover the repairs water pump and head gasket. The head office rejected to replace the engine twice saying that the pics that was sent to them do no seem like the engine needs to be replace. The head office told the dealership to open the engine up more to further investigate to see if their is a warp inside the engine.
What does this mean-(Please provide a filled out pre authorization worksheet for the failed RIGHT SIDE GASKET AND WATER PUMP)
What does this mean
It means exactly what it says. For warranty purposes it was deemed that the engine did not need to be replaced, but apparently they are open to further investigation of the damage. They additionally want some kind of pre-authorization paperwork filled out that would presumably be supplied by the dealer.
