Hello,
I had this car at the Lexus dealer the other day and asked about the transmission fluid change. They claim it's a "sealed unit" and has "lifetime fluid" in it. They stated fluid replacement is not recommended, but if I wanted it done it'd be about $500. I intend on keeping the car for a long time, bought it as a CPO from a Lexus dealer and it now has about 50,000 miles. I watched videos on changing the fluid in this car and it does look like quite a production just to change it. In your opinion, should the fluid be changed, and if so at what mileage intervals would you suggest? I'm a big believer in preventative maintenance.
Thank you for all you do,
Terry

In addition to @mountainmanjoe ‘s advice, find yourself a good independent mechanic to take care of your maintenance needs. Relying only on the dealer can be risky (especially if they’re dishonest).
What, exactly do you mean by "if?"

I would change the transmission fluid every 40,000 miles on those. Certainly, don’t go beyond every 60,000 miles max.
Do you have any powertrain warranty on the car? If not, find an honest good mechanic to do the job.
