Good evening. I have a 18 Rav4 XLE with the automatic climate control. I noticed days ago that the fumes and smells from the outside were coming to the cabin. The button for the recirculate button seems to work. I removed the glovebox and the cabin filter to take a look. I see that the blend door retracts fully open to let outside air in. But, when I click the button to close the recirculation door closed, the door only goes halfway. Doesn't fully close. I am a DIY guy and I do my own maintenance on my cars (oil changes, brakes, etc). Is this something I can fix without tearing up the whole dash? I saw a Dorman actuator for about 40 dollars. I have never worked on AC air handler before. What am I looking at here? Thanks.
Well unfortunately you got to take the dash apart to work on that system. Unless you somehow have a tiny arm in hand and get the actuator off and replace it on the vehicle. But anytime I've ever done one you got it. Take the entire blend door box apart to do that. You can only do that when you remove it from the dash
