Whenever my car (2019 automatic 1.4 t jetta) is decelerating, at 20 miles per hour its drops into the next lower gear. when it does this there is a subtle but noticeable jolt in the ride, the car will rapidly decelerate while the rpms quickly rise and fall as this is happening. The car is very drivable but my mechanic isn't sure and I have to be reminded to be careful when breaking to a stop especially with passengers so the jolt isn't noticeable. Is this normal?

I will disappoint you with the fact that you are going to be one of guinea pigs since you picked very fresh generation. That means issues will be revealed during usage of car.
I suppose it is still under warranty. Why don't make you complaint?
