Dear Scotty, within the first 4000 miles my new 2019 Hyundai Sonata SEL developed a whining noise when shifting up at 35-40 miles per hour. Hyundai has replaced the transmission 3 times but it still makes the same noise now at 36,000 miles. It only makes that noise when shifting into fifth gear, and it doesn't make the noise when the engine is cold or when the car is in Sport mode. Sometimes the noise is softer, sometimes louder. After 2 years of fighting with both dealers and corporate and 3 transmission replacements under warranty, Hyundai decided to tell me that the noise is normal. They say it's internal gear noise and that another vehicle sounded the same in a test drive but they never showed me this noise in another car and I don't believe them for a second. It wasn't normal when they replaced the transmission 3 times but now it 's normal? I'd love to drive it down to Tennessee for you to take it for a spin and tell me if that noise is normal. Thanks!
It's not normal. They just don't know how to make cars.
Get rid of that junk before the warranty expires and it starts costing you money!
That is not normal, and if it were why did they replace the transmission 3x?! You should not believe what they say. If I were you I would cut my losses and get rid of that vehicle. Hyundai Motor Group does not stand by their products.
You have two options:
1. Lemon Law IF you purchased new - get an attorney for this
2. Just sell it and be done
