Hey Scott, I bought a 2019 Toyota Tacoma from a private seller . After a while of test driving a ticking noise such as a stuck lifter or a piston slap started. I took it to Toyota dealer for a check up they stated it was normal , tried different scan tools for a diagnoses and no codes popped up. Cars runs smoothly shifts into gears smoothly as well, what can I be dealing with here? Thanks for the lessons over the years
If possible upload a video demonstrating the noise to youtube or a file sharing site and post the link here.
I just want to say regardless of the reason for the ticking noise do not take it to the dealership. Dealership is only for when car is under warranty or a recall, otherwise they are into making money and not caring about the customer. If you have a trusted independent mechanic take it there.
