Hello, I was wondering if in my 2020 Camry 2.5l with the 8 speed I can use Dexron VI like Valvoline MaxLife ATF Multi-Vehicle Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid, or must I use the Toyota ATF WS? It's about 2.3x less expensive on that jungle website. If it isn't ok, then I'll get the Toyota branded fluid. I know fluid cheap, transmission expensive. Just wanted to save a little if I could.
Also, is there a recommended video showing how to do it on my car?
For that young of a car I would likely stick with Toyota WS for a while at least.
I will say that for my 2008 Lexus GX470 and 2013 Prius that both used Toyota WS, both cars did great with Amsoil Fuel efficient version. I certainly can't say it is any cheaper though. I have never attempted Valvoline Max Life in a trans that has WS in it.
ATF is changed once in a blue moon. Go for the good stuff, Toyota.
if a product specifically said it was "Toyota-WS" compatible, I would consider it. Otherwise, best not to mess around.
You got yourself a quality made Camry car that will last you a long time ... you should take care of it.
It states on the jug that it is Toyota WS compatible. I know how OEMs will say you can only use their brand of stuff but then something else works just as well. It is a young vehicle but i drive 82 miles a day and have over 60,000 mi on it. Though it is mostly highway. Didn't want to wait too long though. Suppose I will get the expensive stuff.
Stick with Toyota's Fluid. Here's a video How to change your Toyota Sealed Transmission Fluid
