Hey Scotty, what do you think about the reliability of 2021 Honda Jazz (Fit).

Which region? Which engine?

It’s actually the 2020 HONDA jazz I am asking for. Region: any region. Engine: 1.2L 4 cylinder engine, 90hp; 110Nm (81 ft·lb). How many miles will it last?

The L12B in the Jazz is an old reliable workhorse and can last a really long time with just basic maintenance.

The only downside to that engine is the lack of low end torque, but it does have VTEC, so you’ll need to rev the engine to keep it in its powerband.

If you’re buying used, as with any used car, have it thoroughly inspected by a professional mechanic, before purchase.

Does it have oil dilution problem? And how often can I put oil in it to really maintain it well?

It’s non turbo & non GDI. As far as I’m aware it doesn’t suffer from any oil dilution problems which has plagued the 1.5L turbo engine from Honda. For maximum life, if using conventional oil, change it every 3000 miles. If using full synthetic oil, change it every 5000 miles.

To add to what the others have said, they are a good little car, the biggest complaints I hear are a rough ride. If you are using it around town now and then, it is a great car. If you want it for uber or long trips, you may want to rent one and take it for a long drive first. I have seen uber drivers trying them, and changing their minds and getting something that doesn't kill their back.

The 2021 model year (4th gen) doesn't come with the 1.2L as far as I know, those come with the 1.3L EarthDreams. And that's not a bad engine either, but I'm hearing that it has the same ignition coil issues as it's bigger brother (the 1.5L EarthDreams) and that it's not too DIY friendly due to everything being cramped under the hood.

The thing to look out for is the CVT, it has to be serviced every 20k-30k miles (it's called "lifetime fluid" but it still should be replaced) with OEM spec fluid and has to be driven responsibly avoiding situations where there's might be slippage inside of the transmission. If the car you're looking at has a Dual Clutch, I'd run as no one knows how to work on those and all DCTs end up going bad at some point.

Hey Dan I was actually asking about the 2020 Honda Jazz not the 2021. The 2020 has the 1.2L engine. CVT or Manual Transmission?

@itwt That engine doesn't look like the L12B, It's 1 cc bigger according to the specs. I guess is could be just a mistype as it's performance characteristic look exactly like those of a L12B3 i-VTEC (the version meant for Southeast Asia). It's confusing as Honda makes a lot of engine specific to regions like the L15BG(FFV) only for Thailand and P10A2 only for the UK and China...

It is the L12B alright. I just checked.

CVT or Manual Transmission?

If you want it to last the absolute longest, get the manual transmission.
