Have $50k of trade in value but no dealer will take it and private party see car fax they don't want it. The recall is the fuel line can melt and truck will catch on fire. I have posted on numerous Tundra Facebook sites and tons of people tell me to send you this .Can I make Toyota buy it back. I have called Toyota over 20 times taking an hour on hold on and off each time, Don't know what to do,Toyota is blowing me off. Sir can you please help me sir. James Harding [contact info removed]
Relax. This is a fairly new recall.
.
The Toyota Tundra recall is NOT for a melted fuel line. Instead the recall is for a plastic fuel tube which could move and rub against the brake line and develop a fuel leak - that’s the issue.
.
The fix is going to be two trips to the dealer. The first trip is to have a temporary fix put in place, that being a clamp and protective materials for the plastic tube to get it away and shielded from the brake line. Toyota's working on parts for the permanent fix. When those are ready, Tundra owners will head back to the storefront to have them installed.
.
Toyota says it will notify owners about the issue by early October of this year. In the meantime, owners can get in touch with the Toyota Brand Engagement Center at 800-331-4331 with questions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration doesn't have a campaign number for this recall yet; Toyota's recall site indicates the action is awaiting an NHTSA identification number.
.
Also, 2022 is the first model year of this all-new generation Tundra and they have already had other issues as well. This is why Scotty and others here recommend to wait years after a new generation is introduced so that inevitable bugs can be ironed out.
Sell it privately on Craigslist or something. Demand is still high.
