I purchased a brand new Toyota Corolla in June of 2023. I use it for work and put a lot of miles on it. When I went in for my 10,000 mile service I noticed that the paint on my bumper was peeling and I let my dealer know. Now that I’m at almost 25,000 miles the dealer has finally got back to me claiming that the vehicle was damaged at the point of entry and some joker tried to cover it up by replacing the bumper but they didn’t follow all of the steps before painting it.
issue#1. I paid for a brand new vehicle not a wrecked vehicle.
issue#2. The vehicle was manufactured in blue springs Mississippi. Wouldn’t a point of entry be a dockyard somewhere?
Toyota is willing to replace the bumper at no charge. I feel like I’m getting bamboozled and have been sold a wrecked car. What else was damaged that I don’t know about? Any advice??
thank you sir!!
It's not uncommon for new cars to be subject to minor issues like scratches or dings on their way from factory to dealership. If there is no indication of other damage like obvious repainting of fenders or suspension damage that's probably all that happened and I'd let Toyota replace the bumper and (hopefully) paint it properly this time.
I would get it in writing, text, or email that this has occurred. That way if they do a poor job, and it starts flaking after the warranty, you got proof of what had happened.
