Hey Scotty!
I am purchasing a brand new vehicle for my wife and I as we had our first child. I am looking at a 2024 Subaru outback wilderness and 2023 Volvo V60 Cross Country. Both are AWD, Automatics. I'm not sure what to buy. Both have great safety ratings and AWD systems from my understanding. I'm diligent about my car maintenance to make sure they stay in good working order. I'm just curious which one be a better vehicle long term. Plan keeping it for 10 years minimum. If it helps, I live in Canada.
Thanks,
I would get the Subaru. Especially since Volvo says they're only going to be making electric cars in the future
Thank you for your time!
Interesting cross shop. I would typically think of the Outback touring as the main competition to the Volvo.
The Outback wilderness edition adds heavier off road tires and more ground clearance than the regular Outback, which will somewhat improve off road performance at the expense of on road refinement. The Outback is already less refined than the Volvo, so I would expect a clear advantage to the Volvo in that aspect.
BUT, I would consider the Subaru superior in just about every other way, especially if you intend to keep it a while. Long term ownership costs will be far lower with the Subaru, and DIY maintenance will be very easy.
Get the Subaru.
Thanks for your time!
This is a clear choice: go with the Subaru.
Yes I would agree as it appears. I have a down-payment on a wilderness. Been 8 months, 3 - 5 more they say haha. Thanks for your time!
