4 Runner 'Bogs!'

I have an '04 and '06 Toyota 4Runner.  One has 52,000 miles and the other has 162,000.  Both kept in good mechanical condition.

Problem is: both will occasionally bog down dangerously when accelerating from a stop, often when turning away from a stop at a corner.  It is dangerous to pull out in front of traffic.  It feels as if the motor will stall out.  Letting off the gas and slowly reapplying the gas will save it, but it is dangerous.

Any ideas?   Thanks

Check  fuel pressure Air intake and throttle body

Do you have the 4.0 motor in both, or does either have the 4.7? I am guessing both have the 4.0

How often does this happen?

My first thought would be the easy stuff that should be done anyway.

As @gew mentioned, Throttle body, I would do the engine air filter, spark plugs, clean the maf.

I know my 3rd gen 4Runner had a "lifetime" fuel filter, but I replaced mine anyway, I would do that as well.

With it happening on both, that is really interesting.

Fuel pump comes to mind, but happening on both, just not sure. Did they both start doing it at the same time?
