Clunking Noise when Turning Right While Stationary and Accelerating - Bad Tie Rod?

Hi,

Noticing lately that when I am coming out of a stop and turning right, a clunking noise is occurring in what seems to be my front driver side wheel. Additionally, the same noise occurs if I rotate the steering wheel while the car is not in motion.

I have a feeling its a bad tie rod, but have not had the chance yet to jack the car up to check (I live in the city and park in a rather tight parking lot). Any idea what else the issue could be? Car is a 2012 Honda Civic EX, if it matters.

Additionally, does anyone know where I can purchase Honda Genuine Car parts? I'd like to be able to service the car myself (I have a friend who gave permission to use his garage if needed.) Thanks!

Is your steering wheel loose when turning it?

As in, you move the steering wheel some and the car does not change directions?

A friends corolla I was helping fix up had at least an inch or two of play in the steering wheel, bad tie rods.

What is your mileage?

Steering wheel has very little play, seems to be very responsive to turning.

Just hit 105k miles.

Was able to jack the car up and didn't notice any play when pushing at 9/3 on the wheel, same with 12/6. Probably will need to take the tire off to investigate further.

Best place for Parts is: rockauto.com (Genuine quality parts with Lifetime Warranty)

I would also check the CV Axle for the clunking noise. It could also be worn bushings on any suspension parts. I would recommend checking them when you have some time but don't delay to long. Hope the feedback helps.
