What should I look for? What are the common Problems? What should I be paying? and lastly, I know Toyotas and especially 4runners are very reliable, but at what mileage on the odometer is too much?

As a rule of thumb, I always look the 2 or 3 years of production of a model. They were making this generation from 2002 to 2009.

Do you want to tow stuff? Get a V8 one. Otherwise, V6 is cheaper to maintain.

Mileage? It depends, how long do you want to have it. I'm familiar they can last 500k miles and more.

Whatever will you get, have it checked by a mechanic before you buy it.

I have to correct myself there☺

I agree with G.T.

Get the V6 and have a mechanic to check everything including AWD system.
