I'm in the market for a new used car, but I'm feeling somewhat indecisive. I want to get a Camry to replace my rusted out Corolla, but I'm not sure which year to buy. I feel like the 5S-FE in the 97-01 is a superior engine to the 2AZ-FE in the 02-06 (avoiding 07-09 due to the oil consumption issue), but I want something a bit newer. Also, the 2AZ-FE has a timing chain. I live in MA, so a lot of the older cars have bad rust. Naturally, I'd check everything out before I bought it (I'm a mechanic). I'm leaning towards the 02-06 generation, but I'd like a second opinion.

I would get like a 02 and 03 that would make the most sense

I would get an 04 05 06 Camry.
