Hi I have a 93 corolla dx 1.8L I was driving and all of a sudden car would Rev but not speeding up I came to a stop and it would move but wouldn't shift out of first or second after a few minutes of driving in first or second gear it went back to driving ok but im getting a different idle
Assuming it's an automatic transmission, do you have enough transmission fluid? When is the last time that 31-year-old transmission was serviced?

The fluid is red a little a light wine color
That's one good sign. How many times have you had the shifting problem? Does it happen when the engine is cold - or hot? Speed when it happens?
