Hello! So as the title says, I have a 95 GMC Sierra 1500, 5.7 liter truck with around 200,000 miles on it. I got sick a while back with some autoimmune diseases and I have not been able to make the trip to where my truck has been stored at to start it. Anyway, I'm pretty sure there was less than a quarter tank of gas in it when it was parked... Other than putting a good charge on the battery, is there anything else I should do before trying to start it? I've read a bunch of random stuff on the internet saying the other fluids will be degraded and it will create further problems if I start the vehicle without changing all these fluids first. I'm still very sick and I'm only making the trip down there for my truck sake but I'd like to know what kind of job is ahead of me before I go.
Many thanks in advance!
It shouldn't be too bad at just six months unused. Gasoline degradation would be the main issue. I'd check fluid levels, put some fresh gas in the tank, and see how it goes.
With luck you may start after just a boost
Depending on the last time it had an oil change you might want to change the oil and you should definitely put in fresh gas
