Hey I have a 96 Celica (5 Speed Manual) and it will not hold gear oil. I have two questions. 1. what is the most likely source of the leak. I have an idea about that : (It was a battle to get the half shaft to seat inside the transmission it is possible I broke something doing that, but idk what). 2. What are the risks of not fixing the problem quickly (should I be getting on this right away)?
It shouldn't be hard to find where the leak is coming from, just look above the puddle of oil on the ground. Is it losing fluid quickly? You really don't want your transmission to be low on fluid. Dry gears meshing with each other isn't pleasant. I would fix the leak as soon as possible. Of course, you want to check the level while the leak is still present.
