Automatic or manual transmission? It's already near 27 years old. How much longer do you really expect to get out of it?

it's supposed to be automatic...

On a car that old you can expect a multitude of problems depending on how it's been maintained over the decades. If driven on salted winter roads rust can be a major problem. The car might last a few more years or it might not. Automatic transmission failure would probably be near the top of the list of serious potential issues. If the timing belt has not been changed in a long time - if ever - the engine could be getting ready to self-destruct (it's an interference engine).

Okay thank you very much!
