I have a 1998 ford f150 v8 4.6 2wd 200k miles. When at operating temp and under load I get a rattle/pining sound when accelerating. It goes away if I use 97 Oct. Only does it in drive not in park. Replaced fuel pump and filter no change. where should i check?

Well it's so old. Probably the timing chain is worn. Have a mechanic check that you can put up a timing gone, look at it and watch it. They'll often do that. The only other thing would be a carboned up engine so you might get some carbon cleaner. Put it in the gas tank and see if that fixes it after a couple hundred miles of driving
