Hello. I have a 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback with 58k miles. My AC in my car is barely cold. It can get slightly cold if it's not actually hot outside but when it's actually slighty hot the air does not get colder than lukewarm. I think I hear it turn on when I turn it on. It has extended warranty from Honda on the compressor but they told me they'll charge me $200 just for diagnostics if the issue is something other than the compressor. What should I try and verify it's the compressor before I bring it?
answer is in the FAQ
Don't go to the dealership. Find an independent mechanic who specializes in HVAC stuff and take it to them.
You could have a pinprick in the condenser if you hit a rock, recently. The condenser is in front of the radiator and is the most exposed part of the system. All automotive air conditioners leak a tiny bit of refrigerant to keep their seals lubricated, so, even if you didn't hit rocks recently, the air conditioner will start running out of refrigerant on its own.
Wow, $200 for diagnostics!!!
I am sure it is not crv black death. You should check the condenser .
1.Check the cooling fans on the condenser or radiator are running when the air conditioning turns on.
2.To See if there are any restrictions like dusts, dirt or other airborne material, which would keep air from passing over the condenser. 3.Check the cabin air filter to make sure hat it is not clogged.
