Honda or Acura

Hey Scotty! Need a reliable small car to get to and from school, I'm thinking about either a sixth gen Honda Accord coupe, or an eighth gen Civic coupe. I'd consider the Acura CL and third gen Integra as well.

Thank you!

The 6th gen Accord, the CL, and the Integra are built on very very very similar technology.

If you can find these with a manual transmission, I’d get those. There was a problem with the 6th gen Accord automatic transmission. It didn’t affect all accords, but enough where it was an issue. I don’t think it carried over to the other similar models, but best to double check.

The eight or even ninth gen civic is a nice choice. It’s the epitome of Civic design, before they went all crazy in the 10th generation.

I currently have a 6th gen Accord manual transmission, since the beginning at ~275K miles since the beginning. These things can last.

Whatever choice you get, make sure to check the timing belt. To see if it needs to be changed or not. Otherwise these cars are amazing.

Thank you for the info! I like to stick with hondas because they are unbelievably easy to work on as a beginner.

You got a lot of cars to go through, options and opinions will vary from persons as they are all pretty solid. Since I am assuming you are looking at only 'coups' for sporty-ness then accord would be my choice for reliability as the top factor in this priority list. If not just get whatever tbh. If you want to play with stonks get a Integra and see where it goes. Everyone in the JDM wants one now that they figured out they can't even afford a 3rd gen supra LOL

I don't have a need to carry around other people, but I'm also looking at coupes because they are smaller, and I don't have much room in my driveway. But I do like the sporty looks of coupes. Thanks for your advice!

I would stick to Honda on older cars just for the cheaper parts and maintenance.

I very much agree, easy to work on, reliable, and cheap parts. Very much a win for me
