1984 Dodge B350 1-Ton frame 360 motor.
I'm looking at a 1984 Dodge Xplorer campervan. Good shape. Well taken care of. Especially interior is 'beautiful". If so nice well taken care of seems that the rest is too. Has features I am looking for and not a long van so easily park it. It has a issue with turning off and won't start until cooled down. It has EFI system, not the carburetor
In the seller's words:
"Turns on and runs-recently, maybe having an ECM issue,
you’ll be able to drive it home, just has trouble turning back on when hot- if it sits for a bit it runs good again." And further comment,
" I was thinking about putting a carb back on it and ditching the efi"
I have a VW Vanagon that did that same thing. Ran great. When it was hot outside in the summer, then parked. turn off engine and tried to start up again, it wouldn't. Let it sit an hour, would start right up and run. Seemed it may have been vapor lock? Don't know for sure, didn't figure it out yet because rebuilding it now. Could it be that and need to insulate the fuel lines? Or may be a fuel injection issue? Being a 1984, don't know how of if can do a computer diagnosis. And is there a good way to tell if vapor lock? Any suggestions? Its really a good van . Owner honest about the issue.
Sure put a carburetor on it and ditch the EFI or if you want Holly makes a great complete EFI system that replaces the carburetor it's the entire system and it's only a little over $1,000 it's a bolt on that anybody can install just realize one thing you bought an ancient dinosaur antique RV and then they can be money pits ,good luck
