I'm planing to buy a used SUV large enough for my 6 people family. Among cars before 2015, it seems like the Expedition/Navigator is the only one has third row big enough, thanks to the independent rear suspension. My study makes me lean towards 2009, 2013 or 2014 Expedition EL. Are they reliable cars? How is the 5.4 V8?

From 2006-2014 the Ford Expedition came with the 5.4L Triton 24V V8 (3-valve), one of the worst engines by Ford. I’d stay as far away as possible from that engine, especially if the previous owner (or owners) were not diligent with the engine oil changes!

Hi DayWalker, Thanks for your suggestion. What about the redesigned Suburban, which also equipped IRS? Is their 5.3 V8 reliable?
I wouldn't buy either an Expedition nor Suburban, both are electrical nightmares that fall apart with age.
