Airbag warning

Topic starter

Scotty, I have a 2016 Toyota 4runner Limited with 101,000 miles. The air bag warning is on on the dash screen and the light on the passenger side says passenger air bag off. I don't see any option to turn it on. The seat belt warning flashes constantly even with seat belt on, although the seat belt chime stops with seat belt on, but not the flashing seat belt icon. I hate to go to a dealer, do you have any suggestions I can try? Thank you.

isn't it supposed to be off when there's nobody sitting there?

I would check the wiring harnesses going to your seats.

It stays off whether anyone sits in it or not.

the fact that you have a belt and airbag warning hints that it's the seat wires.
Also, Toyota had numerous airbag recalls so look into that.

Check the fuses that control these circuits for corrosion.

check your fuzes and wiring. better hope you dont have a little critter biting your wire and cause a shortage.
