buzzing on AM radio

Scotty,

I have a 2015 Ford Escape, 92k, auto. The car is 'meh'... bought it used. Anyway...

I have noticed when I am driving and the radio is on... specifically on AM, when I use my turn signal I hear a slight buzzing on the radio,(bzz, bzz, bzz in time with the turn signal) and it gets a little worse if I hit the brakes with the turn signal on. Am I going crazy or could there be a problem with the electrical system?

It's not a deal breaker, but it is kind of aggravating! 😀

Thanks,

Chris M.

No, you aren't going crazy (if this is you only evidence). AM radio is notorious for picking up stray electrical signals and turning them into buzzes and clicks. That's one of the reasons FM took over most of the radio market. Don't worry about it - you could probably track down the emissions from the turn signal flasher module and shield the radio from them, but unless the sound drives you crazy, just think of it as a supplement to the normal click sound your turn signals make.
