Scotty, I'm looking to buy a used pickup for around $13,000-$14,000 for hunting, camping, and fishing trips. I've done a lot of research and my first preference would be to get a Toyota, but unfortunately, there are not a lot for sale for a reasonable price in the midwest. Another pickup that I've been looking into is the 2nd generation Chevy Avalanches. I would normally not want to get a GM vehicle, but from all the research I've done, these tend to have a high customer satisfaction rating and score high on reliability compared to other GM vehicles (not to mention the price point is a little more reasonable for a guy like myself). What are your thoughts on this?
Those can be decent trucks. If you had to go with an Avalanche, I would actually pick the 1st generation ones since those are based on the Suburbans from the early 2000s, which ere much much better than the newer ones. Better yet, I would highly recommend you look for a Ford F-150 with a V8. You can easily find these in the $13K-14K price range and they are better built than GM trucks.
