Hey Scotty , first of all I would like to thank you for your channel. I have learned more mechanic fixes from you then I thought was possible. Thank you for doing what you do and for free. That is rare in this world now. I wanted to give you a heads up on the At-250 so you can pass it along to others on the channel. I have an 07 avalanche Chevy. I think it has a leaking rear main. So I bought the stuff and put it in. 8oz to 6 qts of oil. Next morning drove to town, about 10 to 12 miles. Before I got home oil pressure dropped to 0 with lights buzzers and whistles. Lol. Changed oil and filter seems to be ok now oil pressure back up and, no lights. When I drained oil it was like black water. And no viscosity . I guess my engine must have been slugged up bad. Filter was plugged solid. Just wanted you to know. Think it might be a good idea to change oil and filter beforehand. And keep a good eye on that oil pressure. I bought two bottles , but I am afraid to use the second bottle. I’m scared of it . Should I try again? Have you heard of this happening to anyone or yourself? Once again thank you for all your help. You are the exception to the rule. I’ll watch your channel for ever. Every video I learn something. Anyway that was my experience with AT-205.
Well the lawyer was that then it might be diluted to my video how to tell if your head gasket is blown. If it is blown and oil is mixing with water or gasoline's mixing with the oil and you would need rebuilding then
I've used AT-205 for several years in both engine oil and transmission (AT-205 added with before and after oil changes) and never had a problem or a problem to the degree such as you have described but if you have synthetic oil, then I expect it will be more watery like vs traditional dino oil (which is what I have in both vehicles I've used AT-205 in.
If you are running synthetic oil, then perhaps try using High Mileage Synthetic oil which usually has a bit thicker consistency (more like traditional oil) and then if you do add more, I would start with fresh oil and only about 4Oz vs 8Oz.
I'd keep an eye on engine temp, oil pressure and regularly check the oil for water / other chemical mixing. IE: tan / milky frothy color = water and dark caramel / blackish water consistency = gasoline or other petroleum product (which you can usually smell easily).
Here’s my take on AT205 and all the other products like it. It’s either snake oil or a very temporary band aid to the problem. Either replace what’s worn out or add up the money spent on a band aid you know what I mean?
