Battery Light Flickers/On but Battery and Alternator test good

Hey Scotty

I recently bought a 2000 Ford Ranger 4WD V6 4.0. I knew very little about automotive repair and maintenance prior to getting the truck but a "project truck" is what I was going for! I can't tell you how many of your videos I have watch in the last month. I'm a big fan.

So my battery light. I few noticed the issue about two weeks ago. It started out flickering occasionally to now being fully lit most of the time. I had the battery and alternator tested at AutoZone. The alternator passed as good and Battery is sitting right at 12.7.  my truck starts just fine most of the time. If I if it's been sitting overnight or something I might get a weak crank. But attention is warm then it usually just cracks up just fine.

Now like I said the battery light is not always on. The last few days or so when I cranked the engine it comes on almost immediately or in the next minute or so. After that it will occasionally disappear if I am driving down the highway and drop a gear to accelerate. Or random points when I'm driving around town I'll see it drop off then maybe it'll flash back on and off again.

All the connections at the battery terminal seam fine. Why the heck and I getting this battery light?

It shouldn't.  Check the date code on the battery. You probably need a new one.

Check all of your grounding connections from battery to body or frame and engine to body or frame for looseness and corrosion.

It has to be something to do with the AC compressor/system because now my ac suddenly stopped blowing...

Get a project truck they said...
