I replaced the starter on my 2012 RAV4 this morning. I had to take the battery out and unfortunately did not have a keep alive memory saver that plugs into the OBD2 port. I go and put everything back together start the car and it dies right after starting it. I try it again, and it starts and there is no issue. Why did it stall the first time and is that normal?
Also, when I reconnected the battery terminals, I did positive then negative, but when I connected negative there was a little spark is that normal?
Thank you!
None of these things are troublesome. As soon as you disconnect the battery, components can start discharging and some just a discharge a little quicker than others. The slight spark means something is drawing current from the battery
Everything sounds normal.
