Battry restoration and maintenance

Ok, here's one to ponder considering all the information out for us to try for battery maintenance. There is a mechanic with a youtube video suggesting that the best way to recoup a dead battery is to check the fluid levels, and, while having the caps open, cycle the battery for 15 minutes on 200 amp jump position. Let cool 1 hour and repeat 5 times. The suggested method will free the dead cells for maximum voltage. This method as opposed to the addition of Epsom salt or other technology used for restoration seems plausible. The rub is having the large charger. That's what she said. Sorry. Had to. I'm going to test it and let you know the results. I have 4 batteries for the offering so I'll post results soon. Any feedback is welcome.

There is something called sulfation, and stratification that can happen to lead acid batteries. The high power charging can help a bit, but don't expect miracles. If you're having problems with your battery then just replace it. This stuff probably isn't worth your time.

I tried restoring a battery using a trickle charger. I could have saved so much time just putting in a new battery.
