Dear Scotty,

I have a question.. i have 2008 Corolla 1.6 3zz car.. I need to know what is the best RPM to drive this kind of old car?

Thank you,

Sam

A lot of the older 3ZZ-FE (unlike the 1ZR) 1.6L engines just don’t feel natural at any rpm… I hope this isn’t your case…

Normal driving for gasoline engines is between 2000 and 3000 RPM.

You have to find the rpm the vehicle likes the best.  They are all different.  My Porsche 911 loves it at 3200 rpm.  My Toyota Pickup doesn't.  It likes about 25-2600 rpm.  The Chevy Tracker is very happy at 3000 rpm.  Really pay attention to your engine sound and feel and it will let you know when it's lugging, being over powered or just happy.

For longevity you should keep the RPMs as low as possible without dragging the engine. A lot of times 1,500-2,000 RPMs should be just fine.

Thank you all for replies.. most of the time i am driving between 1500-2000, but ppl said it's not good to engine.. is that true?

Running an engine at a low rpm can cause "lugging" when you then accelerate without downshifting - in older engines it could cause pre-ignition (you Corolla has a sensor and computer logic to prevent that). I have an 09 Matrix (same engine,) but with an automatic, and in around town driving it spends most of the time at !500-2000 rpm. and 2-3k when on major roads or freeways. You're fine, just downshift if you need to accelerate more than gently - which I imagine you do now.

Thank you friends.. You guys are awesome {black}:inlove: {black}:inlove: {black}:inlove:
