Hello Scotty,

I'm thinking about buying BMW 330CI 2001 model as my first car. It's pretty cheap around 1k to 2.5k dollars, my goal is to drive a cheap car for around 3 years. Is this a good choice? If it isn't can you recommend something to me.

Don't do it. You'll spend more on repairs than the car is even worth.

Get yourself a Civic or Corolla if you want something reliable. I would NEVER recommend a 20 year old BMW.

If you are the type of person that wouldn't care if this happened,

be my guest and buy one.

It’s cheap for a good reason.  As a first car, that is not the vehicle you want to buy.  Repairs can easily exceed the cost of that vehicle.  Plus due to the age, other items (including rubber and plastics) may need replacing esp. if previous owner let the vehicle sit outside in the elements.  Instead, look at a Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic as a first vehicle.
