BMW X5 seized @ 49k > What to buy now!?

2014 BMW X5 seized up at 49,377 miles. Now forced into getting another car (~2 year before planning on it).... so now looking at getting a Lexus GX460 to get back to practicality (still missing my 01 4-Runner). I figure best value would be getting used. Trying to wonder best years (at least 2014 or newer), mileage limits I should stay under (even as a Lexus), and are there certain things to watch out for?   The plan is to have the car for only a 2-4 years before upgrading. I could spend 60k on ones with 10miles, or 30k on one with 100k miles... curious if best value is somewhere in middle. or just get a high mileage one that's been maintained (seemingly).

Been viewer since you helped my start fixing my 4-runner back around 2012, and always happy to see your success. Any advice appreciated.

How did your X5 seize?

I'm guessing 1 missed oil changed. Driving down street going around 15-25 mph, throttle just stopped. It stopped, wouldn't let me put in neutral. Towed to dealership, they said they can't get it cranked auto or manually and it's seized.

Damn that sucks. Usually there is some sort of warning for low oil. I gather you didn’t see any warning signs prior.

Damn... just 1 missed oil change? How long or how far was it with the same oil, for such to happen @mr-auto-guy

Hey, if you're going to only keep it 3 to 4 years, what the heck by the high mileage one

Thanks Scotty! Are there any years since 2014 that are to avoid, and/or aim for?
