Bought a old 95 ford ranger splash,v6 4.0 automatic..200,000..no codes..started having idle issues, was told several different things and spent lots of money, still not running right. The problem right now is that while sitting in park, it is idleing...
@ewc177
Your saying it won't idle in park? Have you done any test for vacuum leaks?
It idles high in park and drops below standard idle after has been run and at a stop..had vaccum checked and new intake gaskets installed and new upper intake manifold..because there was a leak toward center of intake
Well idling law can be actually any of a number of problems from a vacuum leak or the exact opposite if the fuel injectors drip too much fuel it will idle low because it can't run correctly it's sort of being flooded out or you could have a bad idle air control valve you could have weak fuel injectors there's lots of things that can do it you have to pinpoint what the cause is and generally with a good scan tool looking at live data you can figure out what system isn't acting right

Ok..this is whats going on..when started it idles very high, put in gear will pull about 25 mph..accelerate to above 50..runs smooth, let off the accelerator and let it drop to around 35-40 and it will lurch, like someone is lightly tapping accelerator. Just had a new intake gaskets set installed and upper intake..Also have put on new, battery, alternator,plugs, wires,coil pack, fuel pump and filter, iac, maf sensor, pressure regulator, fuel relay and fuses, checked inertia switch, crankshaft sensor, throttle position sensor and egr valve..actually changed fuel pump twice, second time got a higher priced one for a extended cab truck..changed muffler and both o2 sensors..checked for vaccum leaks and fuel pressure..no codes..has no tachometer...so I've been doing what all the so called professionals in my area suggest and I'm about broke, need fixed for work became the one I drive now is borrowed, was indebt for a new car, until a teenager texting totaled it for me..didn't know what gap insurance was..do now..too late..thanks for any help

And I'm in a situation where I help my disabled wifes mother and grandmother, who are also disabled, by going to pay bills and get groceries and things that they need..so a working truck would come in handy..
