Brake Pedal To The Floor

Hi Folks and Happy New Year.

While driving today I put normal pressure on the brake pedal, I felt a pop in my foot through the brake pedal and now my brake pedal goes to the floor.

I checked the brake Chris reservoir asked there's plenty of brake fluid.

If you have any suggestions on where to look for root cause, I'm all ears...And eyes.

Thanks Community!

Could be a broken brake line or a failed master cylinder seal.

  • Had this happen before and it was a brake line. A piece of my muffler fell off and broke it. I definitely wouldn’t drive it anywhere until you get it fixed.
  • Have someone pump the brakes in the driveway and watch look for fluid.

I should have had someone looking.

Based on your feedback and the two others, I'm having it towed today.
Thank you!

Had this happen in my 1999 Ranger last year when I first went to put it in drive. Brake fluid poured out from under the truck from a cracked brake line. You'll see a small puddle if that's what happened. I pumped the pedal a couple times verifying if what I thought happened actually happened, and it did. I had quite a mess of brake fluid to clean up. I thank my lucky stars that didn't happen 3 stops sooner, because I would've lost most of my brakes coming down an Interstate off-ramp.
