I’m going to replace the pads and rotors on my 2013 Highlander Limited. I know Scotty likes the Akebono pads but don’t recall him ever recommending a rotor mfr. Rotors for this vehicle run from $50 bucks to well over $100 bucks each. Of course I’d like to spend as little as possible but also want high quality. Dies anyone know what Scotty would recommend?
No idea. But I did purchase Akebono pads for our Sentra and CRV. Really happy. No more squeaking.
I've had really good luck with Advics rotors which I believe are the OEM for many Toyota's. They are a little pricey, but seem to last. Best price for them in Canada is through Rock Auto.
I just recently did a brake job on my BMW. Of course, OEM brake pads from BMW are unnecessarily expensive as they are just Bosch ones (not even Akebono). I decided to try out NAPA's premium brake pads (I never use the same brand; I like trying out different brands just for the hell of it). At only $55 each set, they are waaay better than the OEM pads (Bosch)! Now I'm sure the Akebonos will be better than the NAPA ones, but at least the NAPA ones noticeably exceeded the OEM quality. I used Duralast brake pads on my Mazda the last time I changed them, and I didn't really like them. I personally like semi-metallics over the ceramics; it just has a better initial bite on the rotor (but at the cost of extra rotor wear). And surprisingly they don't make any noise at all just like ceramics.
As for the rotors, any name branded one should be good. Don't get any knock offs from like Amazon etc.
In Canada. Or rust belt...... COATED!
Not cheapest not most expensive.... Land in the middle
I've had luck with raysbestos..... Rockauto all the way
lol they're only coated until you install them. Rotors are always naked metal.
