2017 BRZ/GT86 opinions in the UK

I really like how the brz/gt86 looks and the way it handles on country roads. I'm very tempted to buy one but I have heard a lot of owners complain about:

  • Poor build quality, especially plasticy interior
  • Cabin noise - poor insulation and also wind/road noise at cruising speeds (70mph), loud engine noise, very annoying on long journeys
  • Uncomfortable rides, you can feel every bump in the road

I live in the UK and own a golf GTD, it is very smooth on the roads and has a very comfortable and quiet cabin, albeit it is a boring car and I am considering selling it for a gt86, but I'm worried I'll regret swapping.

What do you think? Can any owners confirm if the above complaints are true?

Thanks

What year of the BRZ are you looking at?

The only thing on CarComplaints is a brake pedal problem where the pedal actually touches the floor.  Having a Subaru myself they are good cars.  The 86 has no known problems, but I would say test drive them, and if you like one of them go for it! As long as you like it that is good.

Fair assessment. It’s a Subaru, so all of those things will be true.
The trade off is great handling, fun driving experience, and decent reliability for a sports car. Also is extremely easy to service yourself, if you’re into that.
