Hello,
I have ford focus 2005 with 1.6l engine. It has 350k kilometres on it. Suddenly it started putting out white smoke (a lot). Did a compression test and all the cylinders has good compression. Did a head gasket leak and no issue there either. Then we found out that it's sucking oil thorough the PCV system and replaced the value with a OEM and still smokes. As soon as we block the PCV smoke stops. What can be the issue here? Thanks in advance!!
Are you sure the pcv valve was installed facing the right direction? Just a thought.
Yes indeed it's in right direction
If the valve oil seals are failed then that would not show up in a compression test.
Depending on how much oil got sucked into the intake, it make take a little bit to burn completely off. I had a BMW that blew a PCV valve and it sucked enough oil out of the pan for it to run slightly out of the intake manifold when I had the back of the manifold taken off to replace the assembly. It smoked for probably 20 minutes or so before clearing up.
There was no sign of it's gonna reduced anytime, was checking for almost 10 minutes
Are you sure the compression test was done correctly? White smoke is not burning oil. White smoke is burning coolant. I would do a leak down test.
I can be wrong, it smoke was white and it was sticking around more than normally water vapour would. And it was definitely the PCV line. When we block the line there wasn't any smoke. Question is even with new PCV valve, why there is too much pressure in the system to suck the oil from crank case.
