Hello. I am currently driving a Mercedes c180 (2013) diesel engine, automatic transmission with 265k km driven. This year i have spend around 2500 on repairs ( water pump, ignition key) and maintenance. How long should i keep the car? When can i expect to have further repair?

And another question. I am driving about 70 km daily. What type of an engine would you recommend for this milage? Petrol, diesel or hybrid?

Thanks 🙂

It would seem to me it is time to get a different vehicle soon, diesels can last a long time but German vehicles are know for having electronic issues that end up being costly. I would say that if you stick to Petrol or Diesel engines they will last the longest, although depending on the car Diesel will last longer.

Stick to this car until the wheels fall off, since you can not get that much money for it. Then switch to another car.

I agree with the keep it, if it otherwise suits your needs. You're spending 200 Euros a month on repairs to keep it going, and getting ANYTHING comfortable and reliable for that kind of payment and depreciation a month would be difficult.

For reference, in the US, the average person spends around U$ 700 a month to own a car and drive it 15K miles a year - gas, depreciation, insurance, repairs, etc.
