I want to do a muffler delete on my car but I don't know if it's really legal here in Montana. I read that a muffler is required on cars in Montana and that the sound cannot exceed 95 decibels. I'm wanting to do a muffler delete to make my car sound better, but if I can't do a muffler delete then is there anything similar I can do? I want my car to sound mean and loud but not obnoxious.
Removing the muffler is going to mess up your car's computer. It will sense less than normal back pressure and start throwing codes and messing up you fuel/air mixture. Get a MangaFlow.
Well I don't know the laws in Montana but there are a lot of mufflers like Cherry bomb mufflers that do make more noise but do muscle somewhat you might check those out
I don't think it's illegal in Montana to take your muffler off, and even if it is they're probably are not really going to enforce it. But it also depends on what kind of car you have (Age, year, make, model, engine type). You can do research on your car to see if it has any negative affects to the system if you do take the muffler off.
