Can this tire be patched or do I need a new pair?

Last night, driving back home, I think I hit a curb. I am not sure, but immediately all the air was gone.

I see two damaged spots on the tire. Are these fixable, or do I need a new pair? Please advise.

This is sidewall damage and cannot be repaired.  Must be replaced.

You need a new tire.

Yes, you have a "pinch flat" from hitting the curb. It happens if you tires don't have enough pressure, or you hit it just right.

Sidewall punctures are not repairable. The tire structure is compromised to the point that the tire will never be safe to drive on. Throw it away.

Once this happens, good bye tyre.

Neither of these links will open.

Not OP, but it should open for you now.

I think you need a new pair of tires.

I get a 404 error when I try to view that link.

Still not opening, code 404.

Ah, it's inputting brackets on each end. Copy and paste the link without the ( ) on each end Edit: Looks like the brackets are gone on this one, should be good to click and open.

Yeah that worked....but there's no patching that up. Time for new rubber my friend.

I tried and tried to upload the picture, but never could figure out how. Thank you for doing it for me, Joe.

One last question - do I need to have a pair, or just one is OK? The other tire still has plenty of life. Then also, what do I do with the other tire if I need to buy a pair? Throw it away, too?

It has to be replaced for sure. As for getting a pair I have previously changed only one tire instead of a pair and haven't had any issues but I made sure it was the exact same tire even as far as the brand and it's still on my car after 4 years and had no issues. (the tires were about 3 years old when I had to change just one)
