Hello, I do my own oil changes and usually use about 4qt for my engine but I buy the 5qt containers because it's cheaper that way. Is it safe to use the qt of oil from the opened container on my next oil change or do I always just discard the excess?

I use it. It's perfectly good oil.

It’s fine. I use it to top off.

Good for several years (easy). Just try and remember to shake it a couple times. Sometimes the oil additives will settle to the bottom.
