Hey everyone, I just got back from Scotland. While I was there I noticed that there aren't that many Hondas, Toyotas, or even Mazdas. What I did see a lot of though was land rover, peugeot, and German Cars. My question is why? I would assume that land rover, peugeot, and German manufacturers make the same junk there as they do/did here in the United States.

Like Canada, the EU is a very protective, closed market. They have a lot of taxes and tariffs on imported goods.
I'm sure there's a cultural component as well.
(compare with only a few million in Europe)
some manufacturers build their cars better in Europe compared to here.
again EU has always loved regulating things. For better or for worse, they make car companies jump through a lot of hoops.
Japanese cars are just not that popular in Europe. In addition, some manufacturers build their cars better in Europe compared to here.
For example, the VW Passat from the early 2010s is considered an unreliable vehicle here, but the European version from the same time period is generally better built.
