I have a 2005 Ford focus automatic with just under 245,000 k with some mods. I don't think they are the issue as the problem is intermittent. I will turn the car over and the rpms will shoot over 4000 and will instantly drop to zero and the car will stall. It never happened till I had some of the mods done and I've already found one installation mistake they cut my 02 to splice in a wideband and soldered it back together when I told the shop no and found another shop to install one properly. The idle was not correct prior to the mods and has been set properly since. It feels mechanical and my tuner hasn't found an issue with any of the logs I've sent him. I keep thinking of what it could be? Did they mess up the pcv? Should it get it replaced? I've read it could be that or crankshaft sensor. I did clean the maf last year

Well let me tell you with people modifying stuff all bets are off could even be the computer circuit was damaged it drives it and once in a while it'll do that

But start with simple stuff like cleaning and throttle it could be sticking and make sure there's no binding at all on the throttle or anything attached to it

Well since it stated I did change out the throttle body and iacv to ones with lower km and they were cleaned before installing. All my mods are bolt ons. Cia, exhaust and manifold no engine modifications. Is there a way to check if it's the computer circuit? Would there be any other culs? It seems to happen when the car is turned off when the rpms are high (not letting them settle after going in to park from drive).
