On a lot of American cars and Mercedes Benz’s from like the 70s up to the 90s, they had those obnoxious buzzers that went off when the headlights were on, a door was ajar, or the key was in the ignition. In contrast, many Asian cars and some European cars had door chimes that dinged. Why is this? My guess was that the buzzer was cheaper to use than the ding one.
This is almost laughable today as modern cars adapted the ding rather than the buzzer.
