Hi I have a 2004 honda accord lx. So when I go to put my key in the door I can't seem to open my car cause the key don't turn so I have to enter through my trunk. I notice that something is jamming the key hole or its just broken, I bought a key from Ave hardware but my automatic key fob doesn't even open my door which would make life much easier. So my question is, is there a way to get my key fob to work. I went back to them and told them it isn't working and the guy said it's probably because I have an aftermarket radio. So is there somewhere that can actually program this key fob. I don't want to keep spending money on this. Or is there something broke in my driver side key hole and what would that be called, wonder if I should just have that replaced, but like I said if I could just get my fob to work I'd be straight.

Do it yourself:
That really didn't work. But here's what's odd. When I lift drivers side little black thing up and I hit the automatic lock switch the other doors lock and I can use my old fob to unlock the other doors but once I put the driver side lock thing down none of the doors open using the fob
So your power door lock has issues. There are lots of videos on Youtube on that topic.
Typically you program the car to respond to the new key fob. There is a procedure that puts the car in a listen mode where it listens for the key fob. While in this mode you push certain buttons on the fob and the car remembers the new key fob ID. Each car company and model have different ways to set key fobs up and you need the exact sequence for your car. It usually involves turning on things in the car in a certain sequence. In mine you shut the car off and then hold the wiper switch up for 15 seconds. Then the lights flash and the car waits. You push the unlock button on the fob and the lights flash again twice signalling the car heard the key fob and has learned the new key fobs ID. Do some searches for your car and key fob set up. Chances are someone has made a video for your car. Bear in mind some after market fobs won't work no matter what you do in which case you need to go to the dealer. A good locksmith can also be of help.
Good Luck with it.
Oh ok thanks I'll try looking for videos. But the locksmith wants to charge me like 250. I'll rather just go through the trunk for that price haha

Ok so my key does not turn anymore when I put it in my car. I got a new key fob from ace hardware a while back but it stopped working after a day and they said there's nothing they can do. So I was wondering what would anyone suggest to get or a place I can go to get one that won't kill my pockets. But I was also thinking of getting my mechanic to just change out the piece where they key goes. But not sure what it is. He was a little distracted when I asked but he said it would be the door lock actuator. Now there is also a door cylinder. Would anyone know which one it would be or if it matters if I get one or the other?
