Car jerks when engage into drive

Hi Scotty, i have a 2012 Ford Escape with 75k miles on it, V6 with 6 speed automatic. Sometimes (specially on cold, but sometimes on hot) the car jerks when engage Drive or Reverse. Also, the shift between 1-2 feels rough sometimes.

Two codes P0430 (i’m about to replace the cat) and P1000, no other code.

I took the car to the shop and they performed a test and retrieve P1703 and P1780, i tried to perform KOER test with Forescan but always returning P1000 only.

What could it be the issue?

Thanks Scotty.

Have you checked ur u joints on the drive shaft? Usually a jerk from any gear going into drive or reverse could indicate ur u joints are going out

Instead of replacing the cat. You need to find out why its reading poorly. The cat might be bad but you dont want to throw $1,000 or more at a new cat only to find out you needed a tune up, or the 02 sensors were faulty.

Yea, u joints.  And yea on the cat....if you dumping fuel in cat, it'll destroy a new on in short order.  Find cause of other codes and monitor LTFT values via OBD2.
